Shipping Container Houses.

Now, call me crazy--but I am wildly fascinated by the idea of houses made out of old shipping containers. Although I'm interested in doing my part to help save the planet--I have to admit, this romance is purely one of simplistic/modern aesthetics and my seemingly neverending love of things that are "different" (a.k.a. weird-ish).

I first heard of the concept of people building homes out of old shipping containers such as these a few months ago when I was reading a blog somewhere (okay, okay--it was on treehugger.com). Needless to say, I was initially intrigued, but reserved about the idea.

Then, for some reason today I caught glimpse of an article on MSN about it and was reminded...seriously. How fun would it be to build yourself a beautiful house using the most unlikely of materials? SWEET
.
I love the idea of taking something that is seemingly mundane and purely practical, and using it to make something beautiful and inviting.

Just look at the inside of this house....

It's totally beautiful. It's like living inside of pure art and I have to say I LOVE it!

This one is GORGEOUS too.

So...I guess the moral of the story is-I like these houses. I maybe wanna build one someday. . . . . . Just sayin. :)
